Earth Day, 2020

2020 Marks 50 Years of Earth Day
This Wednesday, April 22nd marks 50 Years of Earth Day.  Last year this worldwide event involved more that 1 billion people in nearly 20 countries. The most visible activity in past years has been a cleanup up of roughly 60 sites in Halton, including Joshua Creek near Maple Grove Arena.  However this event run by Oakville Community Centre for Peace, Ecology and Human Rights, and supported by Joshua Creek Residents’ Association has been cancelled for this year due to COVID-19 and social distancing restrictions. However there are still ways that you can help!  Below are a number of links to associations within Halton / Oakville, including some ‘virtual’ actions that you can take specifically on Earth Day.  Halton Environmental Network:  (includes virtual events on Earth Day)https://mailchi.mp/2d56c3d159ff/celebrate-earth-day-2020-from-the-comfort-of-your-own-home?e=26fd036e1

Hopefully one or more of these ideas resonates with you and your family as we practice social distancing through these challenging times. Your Outreach Committee
