Rev. Jessica McCrae

Reflections from the Grove

From Rev. Jessica –
Throughout my ministry I have offered a weekly emailing to my congregation and friends with brief theological reflection and a prayer. It is an offering to help you through the week ahead and has also been a great way for my congregation to get to know me a bit better. I look forward to starting this up again soon at MGUC.

If you are interested in receiving it, please send me an email.

Christmas is Coming

Christmas Countdown is On! from Rev. Jessica

Advent will be soon upon us which means Christmas will be too. I’m starting to plan for our Christmas Eve services and need your help. In addition to our in person Christmas Eve service we will be offering a pre recorded Christmas Eve Family Story Night so that families with young children (and the young at heart!) can gather at home and listen to the Christmas story told by some of our church family (in costume!) and some favourite Christmas music from our chancel choir.

I am looking for volunteers to do a short reading and dress up as one of the following characters: Mary, Joseph, shepherd, innkeeper and someone to be the voice of the donkey (and use the hand puppet I have). If you’d like to help let me know. It will be a fun way to tell the Christmas story for our young Maple Grovers!

Also if you have things that you think would make great costumes or props please let me know! Rev.

Welcome Rev. Jessica McCrae

Rev. Jessica McCrae

Maple Grove United Church is delighted to welcome Rev. Jessica McCrae as our new lead minister. She will be preaching this Sunday, November 14, in the Sanctuary at 10:00 a.m., accompanied by prerecorded sections of the service. She says:

I am so looking forward to beginning our journey together and starting to meet some of you in person at our first worship together Nov. 14.  We are working on getting everything sorted for live streaming, but until we do our live worship will be a “hybrid” of recorded pieces and “live” pieces (i.e. I will preach the sermon live) and provide an opportunity for us to gain strength together as we listen for God’s call in our lives today and reconnect with church friends and family.  I hope that you are able to join us, but if you are not we will continue to have the service recorded and posted online.
