‘Update to Pollinator Garden – progress is being made however we still need your volunteer support to see this project through!  The location has been chosen – swing by the church and have a look!’

Isaiah 24:4-6
“The earth dries up and withers, the world languishes and withers, the exalted of the earth languish. The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant.”

Jeremiah 2:7
“I brought you into a fertile land to eat its fruit and rich produce. But you came and defiled my land and made my inheritance detestable.”

Scientists, politicians, activists and Canadians in general recognize that our world is in trouble. Species are declining at a rapid rate and the planet is warming quickly. What can we do that will make a difference? In a 2019 survey our congregation cited the natural environment and the local poor as our top two priorities.

In response to this directive Outreach has responded with plans for a Pollinator Garden that will provide a habitat for those all important creatures such as butterflies that make life on earth possible. The garden is planned for the entrance to the church on the southern side of the driveway as it provides ample sun. Technical help in the selection of plants is already available but Outreach is seeking individuals with a keen interest in the environment or gardening to help plant the garden and tend it over the summer as the first year is very important in establishing the plants. If you or your friends would like to be a part of this initiative please contact Hugh Wanless at hpwanless@gmail or 905-399-6678. If we do not have a core of volunteers to ensure the health of the new plantings we will be unable to proceed with the project.
