The Aboalagal family arrived at 9 pm on Tuesday night! Everyone is healthy and happy to be in Canada with their sister and her family who live in Clearview. Just to remind you almost 3 years ago the sister who immigrated to Canada over 17 years ago approached the church to help her brother and his wife and two daughters ( 8 and 3 1/2) to come as refugees. The sister paid all the money in advance for the sponsorship and will have them live with her until we find a suitable rental unit.
When: Wednesday May 30, 7-8:30pm in the Friendship Room
Plan to attend a lively presentation filled with stories, photos and videos to be gain an understanding of the challenges and accomplishments of grandmothers in Africa who are raising their grandchildren orphaned by AIDS.

This spring, I am again taking part in Stride to Turn the Tide for the Grandmothers to Grandmothers (G2G) Campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF).
The Maple Grove Outreach Committee is continuing to support the Kerr Street Mission Food Bank. Please give the gift of food to someone in need. Pick up a bag from the lobby and fill it using the grocery list inside the bag. Drop it off either in the church lobby or at KSM.

There is a benefit concert happening at St. John’s United Church (262 Randall St. Oakville) Friday February 23 at 7:30 pm. If you haven’t yet heard the Oakville Children’s Choir, you will be blown away.
Also performing are tenor Mervyn Russell, soprano Charlene Pauls and pianist Herb Williams.
The tickets are only $20 ($15 for students).
