Hi Kerry,
It was good of you to bring up the tragic deaths of the 6 fishermen so sadly lost at sea this week off the coast of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. It still is and always has been a dangerous way to make a living. Over 10 years ago, I sadly lost a dear brother in law, Terry Weaver….He was on board a Clearwater scallop dragger, out of Lunenburg Harbour, Nova Scotia…The accident happened at night, in calm seas ,off the coast of Cape Cod. Terry and another fisherman were on deck…a moving boom aboard the ship ,caught Terry off guard …he was thrown into the sea….Terry was not wearing a life jacket and he could not swim…..the life ring carrying a lit flare, was not functioning….the flare smoked , impeding any hope of seeing him in the water, and of rescue…..His body was never found….when Gord and I are in Nova Scotia , we try to attend the Fishermen’s Memorial services….held every September…..to remember the fishermen lost at sea…….
Thank you for offering up that prayer, Kerry.
