Kerr Street Mission Christmas Wonders & Beyond
We have collected 185 bags of groceries for our hungry neighbours at Kerr Street Mission. This was wonderful work by everyone who gave and worked behind the scenes
For more than fourteen years, KSM have operated “Christmas Wonders”, an outreach program that helps make Christmas more complete and joyous for families and individuals in the Kerr Street area of Oakville. There are over 18,680 people who live below the poverty level in Oakville.
Monetary donations to this program allow KSM to purchase gift cards in bulk at a discount. Every dollar donated translates into $1.09. The gift cards are then distributed fairly amongst needy families who use them to shop for their own children’s Christmas presents. Each member of the family will receive a $25 gift card for food and $50 for a gift.
The program has been expanded to go “beyond” Christmas, as many of the families find themselves in need throughout the year. Three hundred dollars per person will ensure that an individual receives food, programs and services for the entire year, not just at Christmas.
Your Christmas Offering 2017 will provide help and hope, with dignity, to those right in our neighbourhood who need it most at “Christmas and Beyond”. Thank You!
